Lesson of the Week: Intro to Verbs
In Spanish, there are 3 types of verb endings. They are -AR, -ER, or -IR.

Conjugating verbs in Spanish dictates who does the action. To conjugate a Spanish verb, replace the -AR, -ER, or -IR with certain endings as explained below. (There are few exceptions)

Verbs that end in -AR, get conjugated as follows for the verb Hablar (to speak):
Yo hablo (I, me)
Tu hablas (you)
el/ella habla (he,she)
nosotros hablamos (we, us)
ellos hablan (they, them)

Verbs that end in -ER, get conjugated as follows for the verb Comer(to eat):
Yo como(I, me)
Tu comes(you)
el/ella come(he,she)
nosotros comemos(we, us)
ellos comen (they, them)

Verbs that end in -ER, get conjugated as follows for the verb Vivir (to live):
Yo vivo(I, me)
Tu vives(you)
el/ella vive(he,she)
nosotros vivimos(we, us)
ellos viven(they, them)

One of the first things I like to teach English speakers are the words for the word "the". There are 4 words in Spanish that can be translated to mean "the", namely el, la, los, las. These words are used when refering to something - either masculine singular, plural or feminine singular or plural.

For example:
the book = "el libro"
the chair = "la silla"
the books = "los libros"
the chairs = "las sillas"
